Dairy Assistants

About The Role:

‍Max People have an opportunity on the stunning banks of the Waikato River milking 820 cows through a 60 bale rotary with ACR’s, Protrack and cow manager, and all young stock reared on farm. The farm is located just 30 minutes from Taupo and 40 minutes from Rotorua.

This position starts on the 1st July although for the right person there is the opportunity to move on farm and start early. While our client is looking for a long term staff member, they are open to someone that can commit for a minimum of 6 months. There is also an opportunity for part time calf rearing for an additional person.

Roles & Responsibilities:‍

• Assist in the day-to-day operations of the dairy farm, including milking, feeding, and getting the cows in.
• Monitor and maintain the health and wellbeing of the herd.
• Assist with calving, vaccinations, and general animal husbandry tasks.
• Setting up fences and general farm work.
• Feeding out.

Role Requirements:‍

• Prior experience in dairy farming is essential.
• Tractor experience is a bonus.
• Ability to ride a 2-wheel motorbike.
• Physically fit and capable of performing manual labour in various weather conditions.
• A genuine love for animals.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Pass a drug test.
• Current license.
• Reliable transport.
