About The Role:
We are currently seeking an experienced Civil Operator for our Queenstown Lakes branch. The ideal candidate will lead work on various projects throughout the Queenstown Lakes District and Central Otago. This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday, with some Saturdays if required. Flexibility is provided for the right candidate.Our client is a civil contracting company delivering a range of services including bulk earthworks, roading, drainage, infrastructure, and site works throughout Central Otago. This is an excellent opportunity to enhance your skills across a broad spectrum of Civil construction activities!

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Operate and maintain various types of diggers, including excavators and loaders.
  • Perform excavation, trenching, grading, and loading tasks according to project specifications and plans.
  • Coordinate with project managers, supervisors, and other team members to prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines.
  • Train and mentor junior digger operators as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth workflow and successful project completion.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform minor repairs onsite when necessary.
  • Keep accurate records of equipment usage, maintenance activities, and any incidents or accidents.

What We Need from You:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience operating diggers and other heavy machinery in construction settings.
  • Ability to work on multiple sites and adapt to different project requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret project plans and technical drawings.
  • Current WTR endorsement
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and results-oriented
  • Ability to listen, plan, problem-solve, and make decisions
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, as needed.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
  • Valid Site Safe or Construct Safe - we can assist with this
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test
